PENERAPAN PEMBELAJARAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA PADA SISWA DI MA’HAD AL-BI’SAH AL-ISLAMIYAH DAN PERMASALAHANNYA

Abstract

Group This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic speaking skills (maharah kalam) learning and to identify the problems faced by students at Ma’had al-Bi’tsah al-Islamiyah. Arabic plays an important role in Islamic education; therefore, mastery of speaking skills is a fundamental competence that students must possess. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method focusing on vocabulary mastery, phonology, and the pronunciation of Arabic sounds according to makhraj al-huruf among middle and upper-level students. The results show that the implementation of speaking skill learning has been carried out quite well through the use of the Jibril method, which emphasizes repetition, imitation, and continuous practice. The learning process is supported by an Arabic-speaking environment both inside the classroom and in dormitory life, as well as various activities such as dialogues, discussions, and speeches. Vocabulary mastery is a crucial factor in supporting students’ speaking ability, with an achievement level reaching approximately 80% of the learning targets. However, several challenges remain, including limited vocabulary, pronunciation errors, interference from the mother tongue, and difficulties in constructing sentences according to Arabic grammar rules. In addition, external factors such as less varied teaching methods, limited learning facilities, and insufficient environmental support also affect the learning process.
