Although serving as an important part of higher education management, the language centre has not gained a prominent place at Buddhist Higher Education Institutions (known as PTKB) in Indonesia. This research aimed to provide the design of language centre management at PTKB in Indonesia. Data were gathered by conducting benchmarking on two language centres, managed by universities with religious identities in their names. Besides, data were also gathered through conducting interviews with language centre managers, observations of the centres’ activities, and document analysis on the policy management of the two language centres. The results showed that the language centres at the two universities with religious identities in their names functioned as academic support units, running language activities and policies tailored to the needs of the universities they served. The two centres also had a structured management system to ensure the aims of the organisation’s operation and the continuous evaluation of the program’s success. Based on the benchmarking results and data collection, the research proposed a design for language centre management at the PTKB in Indonesia by focusing on three elements of organisational management, namely organisational structure, functions, and activities.
