Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the educational ecosystem, including Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) learning in Muhammadiyah schools. AIK learning should not only emphasize the transmission of religious knowledge, but should also develop AI literacy, critical reasoning, academic integrity, and Islamic digital ethics. This study aims to analyze the implementation of AIK education at SMA Muhammadiyah Pacitan in responding to the AI era and to formulate a reconstructed AIK learning model relevant to twenty-first-century education. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and document analysis. The research informants consisted of AIK teachers, students, and the Vice Principal for Curriculum. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that AIK learning has used digital technology and AI for material exploration, assignment preparation, classroom discussion, and learning media development. However, AI integration has not been systematic due to teacher readiness, students’ AI literacy, ethical guidelines, and the internalization of Progressive Islamic values. This study proposes a reconstructed AIK learning model based on AI literacy, Islamic digital ethics, reflective learning, and contextual Islamic project-based learning.
