ANALISIS PENGENDALIAN PERSEDIAAN BAHAN BAKU POLYESTER STAPLE FIBRE MENGGUNAKAN METODE ECONOMIC ORDER QUANTITY (EOQ) DAN PERIODIC ORDER QUANTITY (POQ) DI PT INDORAMA TEKNOLOGIES COMPLEX

This study aims to analyze and compare the effectiveness of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Periodic Order Quantity (POQ) methods in controlling polyester staple fibre raw material inventory at the Raw Material Godown (RMG) Department of PT Indorama Technologies Complex, and to determine which method minimizes total inventory cost most effectively. Methods: A quantitative approach with a comparative descriptive design was applied using six months of secondary inventory data (December 2024-April 2025), covering demand, ordering cost, and holding cost. Order quantity, ordering frequency, safety stock, reorder point, and total inventory cost (TIC) were calculated for both EOQ and POQ and compared against the company's existing ordering policy. Results: The EOQ method produced an optimal order quantity of 17,751 units with two orders over five months and a TIC of Rp6,900,459, while the POQ method produced an order interval of one month with 6,124 units per order and a TIC of Rp12,026,983. The company's current policy resulted in a TIC of Rp11,190,121. Safety stock was calculated at 2,152 units and reorder point at 8,276 units. Novelty: This study demonstrates that applying EOQ together with a structured safety stock and reorder point system can reduce inventory cost by approximately 38.3% compared to the company's existing policy, offering a practical decision framework for raw material inventory control in integrated textile manufacturing.
