SOLUTION-FOCUSED BRIEF GROUP COUNSELING TO REDUCE STUDENTS' CAREER INDECISION

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) group counseling in reducing career indecision among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Tegal. Method: A quantitative pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The population consisted of 357 tenth-grade students, with a purposive sample of eight students from Class X-9 who demonstrated high levels of career indecision. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using a paired-samples t-test. Results: The mean career indecision score decreased from 149.38 in the pretest to 123.25 in the posttest. The paired-samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that SFBC group counseling significantly reduced students' career indecision. Novelty: This study introduces an SFBC-based group counseling intervention specifically designed to address career indecision among high school students influenced by parental expectations, providing a brief, solution-oriented, and practical guidance and counseling intervention.
