IMPLEMENTASI CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI KELAS X DI SMA NEGERI 4 KOTA JAMBI

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in Grade X Biology learning at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Jambi and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving school leadership, the curriculum representative, the Biology teacher, and Grade X students. Data validity was established through source and technique triangulation, while data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the CTL model was carried out through planning, learning implementation, and evaluation activities. The seven components of CTL, namely constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection, and authentic assessment, were implemented through activities that connected Biology concepts with students’ real-life experiences, observation, group discussion, inquiry activities, presentations, field-based practical activities, reflection, and assessment of learning processes and products. The implementation was supported by teacher readiness, school support, learning resources, and student involvement. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors included differences in students’ abilities, limited learning time, and varying levels of student participation. The novelty of this study lies in providing a contextual description of the implementation of the seven CTL components as an integrated learning model in Grade X Biology learning, along with the supporting and inhibiting factors in the context of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Jambi.
