Abstract

This study analyzed research characteristics, intervention types, implementation, and effectiveness of guidance and counseling interventions in developing students' interpersonal communication skills through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, including identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and article inclusion. Literature was retrieved from the Scopus database and screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 34 eligible articles. The synthesis indicates that research on interpersonal communication has increased substantially and is predominantly quantitative. The identified interventions include role-playing, simulation, workshops, Experiential Learning, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), video modeling, Life Skills Education, and Team-Based Learning. Across the reviewed studies, these interventions consistently enhanced interpersonal communication skills, social competence, emotional intelligence, collaboration, self-adjustment, and problem-solving abilities. However, studies specifically developing guidance and counseling intervention models for school students remain limited. This review provides a comprehensive synthesis of research characteristics, intervention implementation, and effectiveness, offering an evidence-based foundation for developing guidance and counseling services that strengthen students' interpersonal communication skills.
